Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What is your shop minimum?

A:  Our shop minimum is $50.00.  (This covers our sterilization cost and fees associated with the setup process for any tattoo, along with a small fee for our hard-working artist)

Q:  Will it hurt?

A:  There is some pain associated with getting tattooed.  However, the pain is temporary and the beautiful artwork will last forever.

Q:  Who is your best artist?

A:  All DaVinci artists are extremely talented.  We encourage you to view the individual galleries.  You may find a particular style you are drawn to and we encourage you to pick your personal favorite!  However, we are always happy to recommend an artist for you to accommodate the style of art you prefer.

Q:  What are “standard” piercings?

A:  The following piercings are considered “standard” as typically advertised in our special promotions:  Lip, Nose, Belly Button (Navel), Eyebrow, Tongue, Monroe, Medusa, Daith, Conch, Tragus, Cartilage, Lobe, Helix, Rook and Snug

Q:  How do I schedule an appointment?

A:  Simply, call the shop!  We do require a $40.00 *non-refundable deposit to reserve an appointment time.  This deposit will be applied to the cost of the tattoo upon completion.  Once a deposit has been submitted, the artist may begin the artwork for your tattoo.

*The deposit MAY be transferred to another appointment time as needed if proper notice has been provided.

Q:  Do you take Walk-Ins?

A:  Absolutely!  (Provided we have an artist available at the time of the Walk-In)

Q:  How do you “price” your tattoos?

A:  The cost of a tattoo is determined by size, detail, the placement on the body and approximate time frame needed for completion.

Q:  What is your hourly rate?

A:  We typically charge by the piece.  We may get into an hourly rate for very large pieces…such as a sleeve or full back piece.  In these cases, we usually stay within the $100.00 an hour range. If the tattoo is a cover up piece, typically the charge is estimated at $150.00 per hour.

Q:  Can you give me a quote over the phone?

A:  We may be able to provide a ballpark price range for you over the phone.  However, an actual quote can only be provided in person due to the variations in tattoos and skin.  We never want to provide a quote over the phone and have it change once you come in for your appointment.  So, we encourage you to come speak to an artist if you require an exact total for your tattoo.

Q:  How much is it for just a word or a name?

A:  The price for a word or name depends upon how many characters there are, the placement of the letters, the location on the body, the font-style and the size.

Q:  What kind of jewelry do you use for piercings?

A:  We generally pierce with a high- quality stainless steel.  This is the recommended metal for fast healing.  In the case of an allergy to nickel or steel, we offer titanium as an option for only $5.00 more than the regular price.

Q:  How do I take care of my tattoo?

A:  Your tattoo artist will review the proper healing procedure with you upon completing your tattoo.  We typically suggest that you wash your tattoo with an unscented anti-bacterial soap (such as gold Dial liquid soap) using your fingers…thoroughly clean your tattoo (completely removing all residue).  Pat dry with a clean towel.  Moisturize the tattoo with a very small amount (approximately a small pea-size for a tattoo measuring about 6” in diameter) using an unscented, good quality lotion such as H2Ocean Tattoo Aftercare Lotion or Lubriderm about 2-3 times a day.  DO NOT OVER-CLEAN and DO NOT OVER-MOISTURIZE!  You need to remember that your tattoo is an open wound.  DO NOT TOUCH your tattoo unless you have just washed your hands and DO NOT LET ANYBODY ELSE touch your tattoo…period!  An infection can occur during the healing process if your tattoo gets dirty or is exposed to bacteria.

Q:  How do I take care of my piercing?

A:  Your piercer will review the proper care instructions with you after your piercing.  We typically advise you to wash your piercing with an unscented anti-bacterial soap (such as gold Dial liquid soap or H2Ocean Aftercare Foam Soap) 3-6 times a day.  DO NOT TOUCH you piercing for any reason other than to clean it!

Q:  Can I shower?

A:  Tattoos – You can shower as usual.  Just try to not completely saturate your tattoo.  Keep the tattoo out of the water as much as possible.  Pat dry immediately upon stepping out of the shower.  DO NOT take a bath unless you can do so without submerging your tattoo.

Piercings – You can shower as usual.  Be sure to completely rinse your piercing (ridding of ALL soap, shampoo and conditioner).  Be extra careful not to snag the piercing in a washcloth or loofa.

Q:  Can I go to the beach?

A:  It is best to wait at least 2 weeks before (up to a month for extra precaution) going to the beach.  If you do enjoy a beach day, be sure to clean the piercing thoroughly immediately upon leaving.

Q:  How long do I need to wait before swimming in a pool?

A:  Tattoos – You need to wait until your tattoo is fully healed before swimming in a pool.  It typically takes between 2-4 weeks to heal.  Swimming pools contain bacteria which can cause an infection.

Piercings – Although piercings can take up to a year to fully heal, you can swim well before that time frame!  We recommend waiting at least 3 weeks after being pierced to go swimming.  The bacteria in a pool can cause infection.
